Support your local.
I’ve decided to build a new microbrewery just as the pub trade is suffering from the worst decline in living memory. My memory is actually only good for about 3 days but others tell me that this is the worst they’ve known it. Since I’ve invested all the family savings in this mad scheme I need to try to encourage more people to turn the telly off, stop buying cans of fizz from Sainsbury’s and get back down the local. Even more important is the need for everyone to stop sitting alone at the pc surfing the web and instead go and do some proper social networking, in the flesh, down the local! I know it’ll mean you’ll have to put some clothes on and you’ll have to start actually talking to real people but it’ll be worth it in the end. The alternative is that we all become great blobs of matter permanently plugged in to “the net” and relying totally on Tesco to bring life support supplies to the house.
Go on, give it a whirl. I know there’s nobody down the pub who claims to be a 13 year old nympho when you meet them but at the end of the day you’ll be talking to real people.
Whilst you’re down the local it’ll be great if you buy some local beer too. It might not be served at minus 10 and the tap it’s poured from isn’t quite as shiny and glam but it’s real.
